The Ivory Coast isolate was first transmitted by aphids to Physalis floridana and subsequently maintained by mechanica] inoculation in P. floridana and Nicotiana megalosiphon. The host range includes mainly Solanaceae, but Solanum species were not or very little susceptible. Aphis gossypii, A. spiraecola and Toxoptera citricidus transmitted the virus in a non-persistent manner.
